Make-to-Order and Make-to-Stock

Most production orders are started with an order from a customer or to fulfil a stock requirement. These are called Make to Order (customer orders) and Make to Stock (internal order).

Sales Orders
When a customer orders a product that has to be manufactured or assembled, the process looks something like the following:

Quotation --> Sales Order --> Production Order(s) --> Invoice(s) & Goods Dispatch.

A production order or many production orders can be created on a Sales Order by clicking the Process button and selecting the "Create Production Orders" option.

The system will list all the products on a new dialog and provide a way to create production orders using templates or manually. If a template exists for a product on the sales order, it will be the default option.

Once the production orders are in progress, the status of the production progress can be viewed from the Sales Order. This provides a simple way for a sales person to monitor progress.
