A workflow is a collection of related steps or tasks that form a service or procedure. In your business you may require a specific process or procedure to be facilitated by SDI, in a way that you can monitor and manage this process.
The SDI Workflow module allows you to quickly and efficiently create records and related processes. SDI always puts the human element first. For this reason, the SDI proactive Tasking system forms an integral part of a Workflow.
A workflow would typically start when a specific record or request is created in SDI. The record that was created flows through a sequence of steps (tasks/actions or decisions) until a required end point is reached. Using the SDI workflow builder, you are able to construct a workflow that outlines the steps of your process.
Start by creating a custom record, eg. "Request for Quotation". Now create a workflow that starts when a new "Request for Quotation" is created. This workflow may involve sending emails, assigning tasks, approving quotations and more. You start by building a simple workflow and then improving it as you go.
We encourage you to keep your workflows simple as over-engineering is often not the best approach. If you need to create complicated processes, consider using super and sub-processes to make modeling simpler.
In most cases, you may need a bit of a push (unless you are very familiar with business process modeling). Orax Solutions can help you model your initial processes to get you started quickly.
